A cute logo design for ‘Youngsies’. They do toddler and baby animal onesies. The child’s head is used as the main logo, the rest of the body accompanies it on designs here and there.

Hop Monster beer pump for George’s Brewery. It was great to return to this design, the brewery had originally rejected mine in favour of a more cartoony design by somebody else but recently contacted me having changed their minds after their cartoons had caused issues with the brand. Pays to try and think above your client’s head to what is best for their business, rather than just giving them what they think they want.

Happy new year! Here’s something I did a while back for a nursery. Finger painting, nursery, makes sense, right? Notice that one bird/butterfly/whatever you interpret them as is bigger than the other, and it’s ‘guiding’ the other, as if teaching it to fly. This represents the nursery and its staff helping the kids to grow. The tagline is not mine.

Stiletto Events organise social shopping events for women. I am pleased because I finally got to use Andes in a logo, an Art Deco typeface I’ve always loved, as well as electric pink on white, which always is striking.

I normally go for very simplistic logos – not because there’s anything unattractive or wrong with a complicated one, but the simplest ones are the most effective and memorable. I’d struggle to think of many particularly successful brands who have had a complicated logo.

I supplied this client with a few ideas but they had their heart set on having a character as their logo, and I never turn down the opportunity to get the pencils out and do a bit of drawing. London Calling sell make-up, but to a more alternative demographic, a little bit “camden market”.

Sketch after the cut.
